Washington Commanders’ home game ends in loss to Pittsburgh Steelers

An exciting NFC and AFC matchup turned into a disappointing loss for the WashingtonCommanders. With an attempt to advance 8-2 for the first time since 1986 and 5-0 at home for the first time since 1991, the Commanders fell short to the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-27. This game marked Washington’s first loss of the season at Northwest Stadium.
“This one stings badly,” said head coach Dan Quinn. “The team is absolutely so all in for one another and I love that about them — how tough we are. And so it should sting. … These are the ones you gotta look back, you gotta learn, and you gotta turn quickly.”The Commanders took the lead for the first time in the second quarter 17-14 with a 1-yardtouchdown scored by running back Austin Ekeler. They continued to increase the score, holding down a 24-14 lead in the third quarter until the Pittsburgh Steelers made an impressive comeback taking the lead, leaving Washington trailing behind by one point in the fourth quarter (28-27).
Both teams coming into Sunday’s game were leading their divisions. However, now that the Commanders have lost to the Steelers, Pittsburgh remains No. 1 in the AFC North advancing 7-2, while Washington falls 8-3. The Commanders will have to fight for the top spot in the NFC East against the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday, Nov. 14 at Lincoln Financial Field, which will kick off at 8:15 p.m.
