Nationwide — Megan Thee Stallion recently opened up about a difficult moment she experienced. The “WAP” rapper recalled when Gayle King asked if she had a sexual relationship with Tory Lanez during their CBS Mornings interview.
“Why is you asking me about f–king Tory?” Megan expressed in her Amazon Prime documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words. “That’s not what this is about. Even if I was.” Although the Grammy winner revealed that she had been intimate with Tory “like once, maybe twice on a drunk night,” she admitted to lying about it during the interview. She explained that she wanted to avoid discussing something she considered irrelevant to the July 2020 incident, when Tory shot at and injured her feet after they left a party.
“Yes, b—h. I lied to Gayle King, b—h,” Megan said in her documentary. “First of all, I didn’t even know that b—h was going to ask me about that s–t. I thought we were going to talk about this shooting.” E! News reached out to Gayle King’s representatives for comment, but no response was provided.
In April 2022, Megan sat down with Gayle for a comprehensive interview about her confrontation with Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson. Tory was later found guilty in December 2022 on three felony charges: discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. Despite pleading not guilty and not testifying in his own defense, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
During the 2022 interview, Gayle pressed Megan on her relationship with Tory. “What was the nature of your relationship with Tory Lanez because he has led people to believe that it was a sexual relationship,” she asked. Megan initially responded that they were not dating, describing them as “really close” friends who spent a lot of time together. When Gayle followed up by asking if they had an intimate relationship, Megan denied it, saying, “Like sexual? Um, I didn’t have a sexual relationship with Tory.”
Megan later admitted during the trial that her previous answer was a lie. She has since spoken about the impact of the incident and the public reaction on her mental health. “A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time,” she shared in an April interview with Women’s Health. “I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build me up, tear me down, and be confused about their expectations of me.”
Tory Lanez, who began serving his prison sentence in 2023, has maintained his innocence and appealed his convictions. Following the court’s decision, he wrote in an Instagram post, “Regardless of how they spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will.”
