NFL Player Stefon Diggs Found Not Guilty of Assaulting Personal Chef, Sheds Tears

Nationwide —  NFL player Stefon Diggs was found not guilty of attacking his former personal chef during a 2025 dispute. A jury cleared him of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault. While still there in the courtroom, he could be seen shedding visible tears of relief.

According to TMZ, Diggs appeared at Dedham District Court for the verdict reading and became emotional as the jury returned “not guilty” on both charges after about 90 minutes of deliberation. The case officially closed following the decision.

Former live-in chef Jamila Adams testified that Diggs attacked her during a December 2025 dispute over money. She told the court she had trouble breathing during the incident. Her testimony drew repeated warnings from the judge for not directly answering defense questions.

During cross-examination, Adams was questioned about an alleged $5.5 million settlement demand reportedly made weeks before the trial and why she did not document injuries after the incident. She said she was unaware of the demand and provided limited supporting evidence for her claims.

Diggs’ defense argued the case relied entirely on Adams’ account and said there was no physical evidence backing the allegations. His legal team maintained that Diggs had been wrongly accused and said they addressed the case seriously from the start.

“Professional athletes have a target on their backs. When someone sees a uniform and a contract, they see leverage; they see a settlement. And they’re counting on that pressure in the court of public opinion to drive a default decision to settle regardless of the facts of the matter,” said Stefon’s attorney, Mitch Schuster.

The jury ultimately found Diggs not guilty after brief deliberation, fully clearing him of all charges and ending the legal proceedings tied to the case.
