NBA Star Jaylen Brown’s Dad Arrested for Attempted Murder in Las Vegas

Nationwide — The father of NBA star Jaylen Brown, former boxer Quenton Marselles Brown, was arrested in Las Vegas on attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing youth football coach Cross Tupuola during a fight that began over a minor parking incident.

Police said the altercation unfolded on Wednesday at All-American Park. Witnesses reported that Brown, 57, dinged Tupuola’s car with a door, sparking an argument that quickly turned violent.

According to TMZ, Tupuola’s girlfriend told officers that Brown dismissed the damage and insulted her boyfriend before walking away. The two men then agreed to fight, but she said Brown struck first, stabbing Tupuola in the back and abdomen.

Witnesses described how Tupuola, 5’9” and 160 pounds, tried to fight back against Brown, who stands 7 feet tall and weighs about 300 pounds. They said Brown continued the attack as Tupuola tried to flee, stabbing him multiple times before he collapsed.

Tupuola was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, a broken rib, and severe internal injuries that required partial removal of his digestive system. He remains in the ICU.

Police later found Brown with cuts on his face and knees and a broken toe. He admitted the dispute started over a “door ding,” but witnesses told officers that Brown was the aggressor and not acting in self-defense. The knife has not been recovered.

Photos from the scene showed blood splattered on nearby cars. One witness said the stabbing was so violent that Tupuola’s internal organs were visible.

Brown, who debuted as a professional boxer in 1989 and retired nearly a decade ago with a 33-18-1 record, is being held on $300,000 bail. Sources said Jaylen Brown does not have a close relationship with his father and was unaware of the incident.

Jaylen Brown, 28, helped the Boston Celtics win the 2024 NBA championship and was named Finals MVP.
