The celebrated Southern-style restaurant franchise Milk & Honey has expanded its reach to Charlottesville, Virginia. The franchise’s newest location opened on March 19 on Emmet Street and offered a free brunch item to the first 50 guests in the morning and a free dinner item to the first 50 guests in the evening.Thompson Hospitality acquired Milk & Honey in 2020, with Sammy Davis, co-owner of the original restaurant in Atlanta, still serving the organization as a chef consultant. However, the Milk & Honey brand has significantly expanded since Davis started the restaurant in 2006, having experienced some failures, i.e., businesses closing, along the way.
“They didn’t fail because of the food,” Davis told The Informer in 2023. “It was because I was bad at business.”Now, Milk & Honey boasts 14 locations, including five in Prince George’s County and two in the nation’s capital.“After four incredible years of Ralph Sampson’s American Taproom, we are pleased to announce the arrival of the beloved Milk & Honey brand,” said Thompson Restaurants Chief Operating Officer Alex Berentzen. “We see that southern cuisine is underserved in Charlottesville and we are excited to fill the void with our fan-favorite menu items.”
