Keke Palmer Critcized for Jonathan Majors Interview on Her Podcast

Nationwide — Keke Palmer, the 30-year-old actress and media personality, is facing heavy criticism after it was revealed that Jonathan Majors would appear on her podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer. At first, many people thought it was an April Fool’s day prank, however, the episode was later confirmed on the official podcast platform, sparking immediate and widespread controversy due to Majors’ recent conviction related to domestic violence.

According to The Root, the reaction online has been sharply divided. Supporters of Palmer argue that viewers who are uncomfortable with the episode can simply choose not to listen. But many others are outraged, pointing to Palmer’s own history as a domestic violence survivor. Critics expressed disbelief that someone who has publicly spoken about her personal trauma would offer a platform to a man with a documented record of violence against women.

Social media erupted with angry posts and heated debates. Some users brought up actor Michael B. Jordan’s prior support of Majors, questioning why public figures continue to rally behind him. Others criticized Palmer more directly, referencing her past controversial remarks, including a 2018 interview where she defended R. Kelly. Ironically, that same interview included Palmer detailing her own experiences of being “sexually intimidated” by Trey Songz—experiences that fans say make her latest decision particularly troubling.

Some of the most intense criticism came from users on X/Twitter. One wrote, “First Michael B. Jordan, now Keke Palmer—a whole domestic violence victim herself—lending her platform to Jonathan Majors… WHY ARE PEOPLE RALLYING BEHIND A WOMAN ABUSER?” Another user added, “Keke’s ex-boyfriend abused her in front of the world, and now she’s platforming a convicted abuser. Make it make sense.”

Despite the backlash, a few users came to Palmer’s defense. They pointed out that she has apologized for past comments, including her remarks about R. Kelly, and reminded others that her podcast often centers on themes like growth and accountability. One supporter wrote, “Do I agree with Keke Palmer having Jonathan Majors on her show? No. But she was 25 during that R. Kelly interview and has since apologized. Some of y’all still screaming ‘Free Tory Lanez.’ Let’s be real.”

As the conversation rages on, Palmer has not yet addressed the backlash publicly. Fans and critics alike are now waiting to see whether she’ll respond directly or let the controversy fade with time.
