Karen Huger, ‘Real Housewives’ Star, Sentenced to One Year in Jail for DUI

Nationwide — Karen Huger, known from The Real Housewives of Potomac, has been sentenced to one year in jail after a DUI conviction. The 61-year-old reality star was found guilty following a March 2024 car accident in Potomac, Maryland.

On December 19th, Huger was convicted of DUI, negligent driving, and failing to control her speed, among other charges but she was acquitted of reckless driving.

Most recently, a Maryland judge sentenced Huger to two years in jail but suspended one year, as reported by USA Today. Along with her jail time, she must pay a $2,900 fine, avoid driving for a year, and complete five years of supervised probation. She will also be required to use an interlock device in her vehicle after her driving privileges are restored.

In March 2024, Huger crashed her car, crossing a median and hitting street signs. Body-cam footage from the arrest, shown in court and during the RHOP reunion, captured her admitting she had been drinking and refusing a sobriety test.

In the video, Huger appeared intoxicated, slurring her words and making unusual comments. She told officers she was “really rich” and “Thomas Jefferson’s concubine” and insisted they would be “ashamed” after Googling her.

A main cast member on RHOP since 2016, Huger is known for her extravagant personality. She missed the recent RHOP reunion, revealing in a pre-recorded message that she had entered rehab. Throughout the season, her co-stars criticized her behavior.
