Inmate Continues to Stalk 16-Year-Old Black Teen from Behind Bars By Sending Her Letters

Nationwide — Christopher Turner, a 53-year-old man detained in Nashville, Tennessee, is accused of stalking a 16-year-old Black teen and continuing to contact her even while behind bars. Police say the case began near the girl’s home and escalated months later when Turner allegedly sent her a letter from jail.

According to WLBT, the incident started in July while the teen was in her bedroom late at night. After hearing her dogs bark, she looked out her window and saw a man standing in nearby woods, staring directly at her. The unexpected eye contact frightened her, and she quickly moved away from the window.

Police later identified the man as Turner. Authorities say he then stole the teen’s bike and left the area. The girl and her father told officers they did not know Turner and had never interacted with him before. Turner was arrested days later, on July 14, and charged with theft.

Several months passed before police say Turner resurfaced in the teen’s life. In January, officers were called back to the family’s home after the teen received a letter addressed to her. Investigators say the letter was sent from the Davidson County Detention Facility, where Turner was being held.

According to police, the letter revealed Turner’s fixation on the teen and referenced their encounter in July. In the message, he allegedly wrote, “I could see something in you that I long for.” The letter also stated, “I just can’t get you out of my mind at times… I feel like I know you.”

The teen told officers that both the July incident and the letter left her terrified. She said she fears Turner and feels shaken by the continued contact.

Turner is now charged with felony aggravated stalking. The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he is being held at the Maximum Correctional Center. He also faces charges of sexual battery and assault and is not eligible for release due to a court-ordered domestic violence hold.
