Black Man Shot Dead in Georgia, His White Girlfriend Arrested and Charged

Nationwide — Telvin Osborne, a 30-year-old African American man from Jackson, Georgia, was shot and killed in an apparent domestic violence incident. His girlfriend, 25-year-old Hannah Grace Cobb, who is white, has been arrested and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter.

Burke County deputies responded to a call just before 6 am on Sunday at a home on Four Points Rd. Upon arrival, deputies found Osborne unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators confirmed Cobb and Osborne were in a relationship and had two children together. They had reportedly been drinking and arguing before the shooting.

“It is reckless to go out and get drunk and then introduce a firearm into an argument. It is reckless to engage in an argument where there’s pushing and shoving going on,” Sheriff Alfonzo Williams said, according to WFXG.

Cobb claims the shooting was accidental, stating she was checking the gun, something she says they did every night. However, Sheriff Williams stated there was no evidence supporting her claim.

Neighbors were shocked by the news, describing the couple as seemingly normal. “We didn’t know what was going on and it was all so shocking [and] scary because they seemed like a nice couple. You never know what goes on behind closed doors, what’s in somebody’s head,” said neighbor Lee Roberts.

Authorities continue to investigate, gathering phone records and speaking to family and friends. Cobb is being held at the Burke County Detention Center without bond.
