62-Year-Old Black Hospital Housekeeper Surprised by Coworkers with Bridal Shower

Nationwide — Sheila Williams, a 62-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, never imagined she would become a bride. And just before her wedding, her hospital coworkers surprised her with a bridal shower that later went viral and changed her honeymoon plans.

Williams works as a housekeeper at a local hospital, where staff consider her family, according to Because of Them We Can. On her last shift before the wedding, she walked into the break room to find balloons, food, and coworkers shouting, “Surprise!” With tears in her eyes, she asked, “This for me? No one has ever thrown me a party.”

The surprise didn’t stop there. Nurses and staff, led by Hannah Heisdorf, started a fundraiser to help Williams and her fiancé, Terry, enjoy a honeymoon. A video of the moment was shared on TikTok and quickly gained more than six million views.

The story soon spread nationwide. Hilton Hotels stepped in and offered to cover the couple’s honeymoon stay at any of its properties. The company said it wanted to return the same warmth and kindness Williams had shown throughout her career.

On July 25, Williams married Terry in Orlando. Surrounded by love from her coworkers and support from strangers, her long-awaited wedding turned into a celebration that reached far beyond the hospital walls.
