10-Year-Old Black Girl With No Parents Says She Would Sing Out Her Soul to Be Adopted

Nationwide — Lamara, a 10-year-old African American girl from Lancaster Texas, has a bright personality and charm, and dreams of finding a family to adopt her. Despite spending 7 years in foster care, she remains hopeful for the day she will have a family she can call her own.

Lamara’s biggest wish is simple: she wants to be adopted by a family that will give her the attention and love she has been longing for.

“I just want somebody to adopt me,” she said softly in an interview with WFAA.

Lamara loves to explore new things. From shopping to making slime and playing with toys, she finds joy in simple activities. She also likes to color, paint, and watch TV. She enjoys cooking on her own, too.

She is full of joy and curiosity about the world around her. “How do volcanoes erupt? I’ll ask my teacher,” she wondered aloud.

At Lancaster Music School, Lamara found a new way to express herself through music. “I’m fun to play with!” she exclaimed.

Moreover, Lamara expressed her excitement about starting 5th grade. “I’m older than all the kids,” she said with a smile.

She is especially looking forward to her favorite subjects, Math and Science, and learning about animals and their life cycle. She dreams of becoming a Kindergarten Math teacher, planning to go by the name Ms. Mahogany, after her middle name which she thinks is beautiful.

Despite being in and out of foster care for 7 years, she remained cheerful and confident. Her court-appointed special advocate, Kathleen Cain, said, “She makes friends so easily. I’ve seen her in so many new schools and new situations and she comes out with a new friend and she sees the positive in everything.”

Cain believes it’s time for this wonderful child to have a loving family of her own.
